1. Do you allow pets on the property?

  • While we are animal lovers, for legal and sanitary reasons, animals of any kind are not allowed in the motel, cottages, or anywhere on the property, with the exception of service animals

2. Do you supply pool towels? 

  • We do not supply pool towels, you will need to bring your own. *Also, please note that due to legalities in the State of Indiana, you need to bring multiple swim suits if you plan on swimming in the lake, or visiting the Indiana Beach Water Park, and swimming in our heated pool. The lake contains algae that we cannot allow in our heated pool, so a different swimsuit must be worn in our pool than what you wear to the lake/water park. There are no exceptions. 

3. How many people can stay/sleep in a cottage? Motel room?

  • Cottages 1-5 sleep 6 people. Cottage 6 sleeps 4 people. Motel rooms 7,8,10, and 11 sleep 4. Motel room 9 sleeps 8, as does motel 7/8 combo unit. Each unit has a maximum occupancy that is strictly enforced, including infants, toddlers, and children.

5. Do you provide daily housekeeping services?

  • Our units are thoroughly cleaned upon checkout only, however should you need extra towels, just bring the soiled towels to the office to trade for fresh ones.

6. Do you supply paper towels? 

  • We supply one roll of paper towels per unit, should you need more you will need to bring your own, or we will have some for purchase in our small General Store. 

7. What time is check-in? Check-out?

  • Check-in is any time after 4 PM. If the room is available when the guests arrive, we have no problem giving them the keys early. If the room is not ready when they arrive, we will do an early check-in process, which allows guests to park the car and use all the amenities while they wait.

  • Check-out is 11 AM. We try to honor every request, but sometimes not all can be met. Unfortunately, we do not allow a late check-out, as we need the time to prepare for the next guest. 

8. Is Dockside directly on Lake Shafer?

  • Yes we are! We have boat docks available on a first come, first served basis, for you to dock your boat. You are also welcome to fish from the docks, we even have fishing poles for you to use, free of charge. 

9 Do the cottages have internet access? 

  • Yes, we have wi-fi available on the property, just get the password from the office.

10 Are there age requirements to use the exercise room?

  • Guests under 13 are not allowed in the exercise room. To enter the exercise room you must obtain the door key code from the office. The exercise room is open 24-hours a day for your convenience. 

11. If I have friends staying at another resort, can they come swimming with me at the Dockside pool?

  • No, the pool, and and other amenities, are for Dockside registered guests only. 

12. If it rains, or my stay is interrupted by inclement weather, can I get a refund for unused days should I check out early?

  • No, we do not issue refunds for early check out for any reason. 

13. Do you supply firewood for the fire pit area?

  • We will have a limited of supply of firewood for use on a first come, first served basis. Once that supply is exhausted you will need to supply your own. Campfires are only allowed in the provided areas, and must be supervised by an adult of at least 21 years of age. 

14. Are there guest laundry facilities available at Dockside?

  • We do not have guest laundry facilities. There is a laundry mat 2.5 miles away called Life's A Beach Wash & Tan.

15. What is required upon check-in?

  • We require guests to complete and sign registration card at check-in, provide a valid drivers license or identification card, and pay any outstanding balances due. Cash and credit cards only, checks are not accepted. We will retain your credit card number on file for incidentals/damages.

16. What taxes can I expect to pay?

  • State tax is 7%, County tax is 3%, and Innkeeper's tax is 2%, for a total of 12% tax. 

17. What are the pool hours?

  • Our heated pool is open from 10 AM - 9 PM, weather permitting. Hours subject to change.

18. Are fireworks/firearms allowed on the property?

  • No, no fireworks or firearms of any kind are allowed on the property. 

19. Do you allow smoking on the property?

  • Smoking is strictly prohibited inside all cottages and motel rooms. This includes vapor cigarettes. A minimum $350.00 cleaning fee will be charged if caught in violation of this policy. 

  • Smoking is allowed outside and at the pool in the designated smoking area. Please use receptacles for disposal of cigarette butts. 

20. Do you have a designated quiet time?

  • We ask that all of our guests be respectful of others on the property. Quiet time is at 11 PM. 

21. What is your cancellation and refund policy?

22. Is there guest parking available?

  • One (1) designated parking space is available on the property (per unit) for registered guests only. Additional parking is available in the lot across the street.
